John entered the Financial Services industry back in 1987 and became one of the ‘Men from the Pru’, honing his expertise to specialise in advising teachers and professionals – a more personalised area of financial advice.
In 2001 he moved on from Prudential to become an Independent Financial Adviser, setting up Compass Independent Financial Services Ltd with Mike Eagle, his long-time friend and work colleague. He wanted to be able to provide advice to his clients from across the whole marketplace, rather than the limited products offered by a single company, bank or building society.

John’s strength is the personal service he offers his clients which is his key to building long-term relationships, and this is demonstrated by the fact that many of his clients are also friends. He is a member of the Personal Finance Society and holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and a Certificate in Mortgage Advice.
Living just on the outskirts of Norwich, John is married with three grown-up children, his eldest – Megan – being part of the Compass team. Outside of work John’s personal interests include travelling, motorcycling, dog walking, gardening, DIY, grandparent duties, socialising and car detailing.
